Protection From Evil (PFE)
Pre-reqs: None Description: Protects against unholy magic and can be a defense against the powers of undead. Comments: PFE is useful in many cases dealing with the undead. It is a spell I consider a must in every cleric's repertoire. Usage: This spell eventually caps out at 12 minutes regardless of how much mana you pump into it. Quite a number of people mistakenly assume that this spell can last longer than 12 minutes. It is not stackable. MPFE, however, is. Needed for: Multiple Protection From Evil, Minor Physical Protection, Kertigen's Will, Shield of Light, Confound Enemies, Curse of Zachriedek. Multiple Protection From Evil (MPFE) Pre-reqs: Protection From Evil Description: An expanded version of PFE. This spell protects everyone in your group with each cast. Comments: I like this spell since it protects a group instead of one person at a time. You do not need to be leading the group to cast this spell. Other clerics who cast the spell can add to your duration as well. Usage: This spell caps out at 30 minutes. This spell is stackable. Minor Physical Protection (MPP) Pre-reqs: Protection From Evil Description: Gives you a boost to your parry and shield defense skills. Comments: A favorite among many clerics. Not among my often-used spells, but many respected clerics swear by this spell. Needed for: Major Physical Protection, Kertigen's Will, Shield of Light, Curse of Zachriedek. Kertigen's Will (KW) Pre-reqs: Minor Physical Protection Description: Supposed to prevent an item on the ground from being picked up by anyone other than the owner. Comments: In its current state, this spell is considered pathetic. However, it is a pre-req for some decent spells. KW is slated for a review, and may go under a major rehaul to make this spell halfway decent. Needed for: Shield of Light, Curse of Zachriedek. Shield of Light (SoL) Pre-reqs: Kertigen's Will, Divine Radiance Description: Creates a holy shield that allows you to block attacks with greater accuracy than your normal shields. Comments: A held mana spell. I am not a real fan of held mana combat spells as I usually tend to be casting spells while in combat, which makes this spell difficult to maintain. I don't recommend this spell until you can harness and hold mana without getting near-instant nerve damage. On the plus side, this shield will save you on long-term burden, and won't take up a shoulder slot. (Update: when used with the aid of Osrel Meraud, held mana spells can be wonderful!) Usage: With improved skill, you can get bigger shields. Major Physical Protection (Scroll-Only) Pre-reqs: Minor Physical Protection Description: An expanded version of MPP. Like MPFE, it affects your group when cast. |
